HUGS QUILTS for KIDS

1055 - and counting !!

"Give a Hug and Get a Hug"

Since 2005 Covington Quilters Guild members have sewn and provided

homemade quilts (hugs) to the following children's organizations:

Mary Bridge Children's Oncology Dept - Tacoma
Children receive a quilt when entering Mary Bridge Hospital for chemotherapy or if the child has experienced a traumatic event. Our "Hugs" provide comfort during a difficult time. It is theirs to keep whether at home or at the hospital.

Western Washington Candlelighters - Children's Hospital & Fred Hutchison Hospital/Seattle, Madigan Hospital/Tacoma. This dedicated group provides emotional and financial suppot to families who's child has been diagnosed with cancer and have entered the chemotherapy departments of Children's and Fred Hutchison Hospitals of Seattle and Madigan Hospital of Tacoma. The children may be from the Seattle area or from out of town. Our "Hugs" is a caring introduction to our Community.

PICC - Pediatric Intern Care Center - Kent
Meth and cocaine addicted newborn babies experience withdrawal just like adults. PICC is the onoy facility of it's kind. Our quilts are affectionately provided for take home, so each child will know they were loved from birth.

Vine Maple Place - Maple Valley

Vine Maple provided families with transitional housing and support services for homeless single mothers. Quilts are given to Vine Maple for their fun raising events.

Valley Medical Ctr-Intensive Newborn Care Unit - Kent
Often premature and newborn babies are at risk and need to be provided with special care. At Valley Medical, the ICU provides this special care. Our baby quilts are presented to the parent(s) as a gesture of love from our guild.

Ryther Child Center - Seattle
Ryther Center provides a safe place for children who have been traumatized emotionally and physically. They have been abused and often sexually molested. Our "Hugs" imparts these children with a sense of love, warmth and comfort. To know someone really cares is a "start" to their healing.
