Scrappy Hearts
- Cut an 11 1/2 inch square from the white background fabric.
- Using the pattern cut out the large heart from on of the red or pink fabrics.
- Place the large heard face up on the center of the background fabric. I found the center of both the heart and the fabric by folding them in half both ways. I stuck a pin at the fold crossover of the heart and then through the fold crossover of the background and then stuck in another pin to hold it. Now the hearts get sewn down going around and inside of the hearts a little more than a quarter inch from the edge.
- Carefully trim the background fabric from the back of the heart about 1/2 or 1/4 inch from the stitching.
- Perform steps 2 through 4 on the medium and small hearts.
- Cut the block into quarters creating five 3/4 inch squares.
- Keep one of your quarter squares and exchange the rest with others so that you have a new heart with four different squares.
- Sew these quarters back together to create a new heart square.
See the pattern below.
